Colorado College Bluegrass Ensemble

The Colorado College Bluegrass Ensemble is an instrumental and vocal band created to provide for students a challenging and creative environment in which to develop material with the feel and structure of bluegrass music. The ensemble draws mainly from traditional sources including Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, Jimmy Martin, and the Stanley Brothers. The ensemble frequently performs at the Durango Bluegrass Meltdown, held annually in April. The ensemble receives academic credit and is by audition only.

Ben Musser is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist living and working in Wyoming. His project Benyaro toured nationally for years sharing the stage with national headliners across the country. Musser is a one-man-band whose music has enjoyed Americana and college radio success, plus critical acclaim from No Depression, Relix, Huffington Post and countless mags and rags across the US who call his music “punk-Americana” and “indie acoustic-soul”. Over the years, Musser has drawn repeated vocal comparisons to Cat Stevens and David Bowie.

The Pickin’ Pear, Tia Martini and Leon Elam create an original modern sound on two traditional instruments. Together they take the banjo and ukulele down the road of folk, rock and bluegrass. Sometimes the ukulele will launch you straight into outer space! A blend of top-notch songwriting and improvisational jamming makes each performance exciting and new. The Pickin’ Pear are happy to bring their organic and all-natural blend of folk 'n' roll to stages across the US. The Sleepless Elite formed in Boston, MA when Carolina Kehoe attended Berklee College of Music. Soon after, Baylor Carter joined her in hopes of playing a gig or two.

Through a Craigslist posting seeking a drummer, the pair ended up living with Ben Deily (co-founder, Lemonheads) and his wife Lisa Deily. After encouragement from them, Carolina started her own band with Baylor, opening for Ben and Lisa on their Pacific Northwest tour.

The band is comprised of Troy Falcon on bass/lead vocals, Toby Falcon on guitar/vocals, Brenden Fritzler on harmonica, and Ken Clark on drums.
